Glossary
Key terms related to PUSD x ALGO project and the broader blockchain and DeFi ecosystem to help understand quicker while navigating easier.
Notice: "This Page is Evolving with PUSD x ALGO"
A
ALGO: A speculative token used as collateral for minting PUSD, ensuring a secure and collateralized foundation for the stablecoin.
Algorithmic Stablecoin: A type of stablecoin whose value is pegged to another asset (like the US Dollar) and is maintained through algorithms that adjust its supply in response to changes in demand.
ATH - All Time High: The highest value achieved by an asset so to-date.
Arbitrage: The simultaneous purchase and sale of an asset to profit from price differences in different markets.
B
Blockchain Technology: A distributed ledger technology used to record and verify transactions across a network of computers, providing security and transparency.
C
Community Governance: A governance model that involves the community in decision-making processes, allowing token holders to participate in shaping the protocol's future.
Community Engagement: The involvement of a project's community in its development, often through social media, forums, or other communication channels.
Certificate of Deposit (CD): In traditional finance, a savings account with a fixed interest rate and fixed date of withdrawal; in DeFi, it's a similar concept applied to crypto assets.
D
Decentralization: The distribution of power and control away from a central authority, particularly in the context of blockchain and cryptocurrency networks.
Decentralized Finance (DeFi): Financial services, like lending or trading, provided without traditional intermediaries, using blockchain technology.
Decentralized Exchange (DEX): A type of cryptocurrency exchange which operates without a central authority, enabling direct peer-to-peer cryptocurrency transactions.
EES (Early End Stake): Existing a stake contract before the scheduled unlocking period.
F
FLEX: A utility token in the PUSD x ALGO ecosystem, designed to incentivize user participation in various protocol functions, such as staking and providing liquidity.
G
Governance Token: A potential token that may be introduced in the future to allow stakeholders to participate in decision-making processes within the protocol.
I
IPOL (Integrated Protocol Owned Liquidity): A system within the PUSD x ALGO protocol that allows direct control over a significant portion of its liquidity, enhancing stability and efficiency.
L
Liquidity: The ease with which assets can be converted into cash or other coins without affecting their market price.
Liquidity Pool: A pool of assets used to facilitate trading and transactions within the protocol, contributing to liquidity and stability.
M
Mint Tax: A fee applied during the minting process of PUSD using ALGO, used to support stability measures within the PUSD x ALGO ecosystem.
Multiplier: In the context of blockchain sacrifices, a multiplier increases the amount of tokens or benefits a participant receives based on the timing and size of their contribution.
N
NFT (Non-Fungible Token): A type of digital asset that represents ownership or proof of authenticity of a unique item or piece of content, often using blockchain technology. Unlike cryptocurrencies such as PUSD or ALGO, which are fungible and can be exchanged on a one-to-one basis, each NFT has a unique digital signature, making it distinct and non-interchangeable.
P
Peg: The target value or price to which a stable-coin is tied. For PUSD, it is pegged to 1 eDAI.
Protocol Dashboard: A user-friendly interface providing real-time data, staking, minting, and unwrapping functions, as well as tools for managing stability miners.
PRC-20: A token standard on the PulseChain blockchain, similar to the ERC-20 standard on Ethereum, defining a common set of rules for tokens to follow.
PulseChain: A blockchain platform on which the PUSD x ALGO protocol operates, known for its efficiency and scalability.
PUSD: The primary stable-coin of the PUSD x ALGO protocol, pegged to 1 eDAI and designed to serve as a stable medium of exchange.
PUSD x ALGO Ecosystem: A blockchain project aimed at creating a stable-coin ecosystem, learning from existing protocols and innovating in the realm of algorithmic stable-coins.
R
RNG (Random Number Generator): It's a mechanism used in the ecosystem to generate random numbers for various processes, i.e. sacrifice bonuses and staking yields. Its main purpose is to ensure fairness and unpredictability in outcomes.
S
Sacrifice Phase: A period during which participants can contribute to a blockchain project in exchange for future benefits or tokens. In the context of PUSD x ALGO, contributors receive ALGO, Flex, and WPUSD tokens in return for their sacrifice.
Security Audits: Thorough reviews of the protocol's code and security measures to identify and address potential vulnerabilities and risks.
Smart Contract: Self-executing contracts with the terms of the agreement directly written into code, facilitating automated transactions within the protocol.
Stability: The attribute of maintaining a consistent value or peg, ensuring minimal volatility and reliability in the cryptocurrency market.
Stability Miners: Participants responsible for monitoring market conditions and taking actions to maintain the peg of PUSD, including purchasing or minting PUSD.
Stability Mining Bots: Autonomous bots that regulate the supply of PUSD in response to market conditions, maintaining its peg by buying or minting PUSD as needed.
Staking: The process of holding funds in a cryptocurrency wallet to support the operations of a blockchain network. In the PUSD x ALGO protocol, it involves deploying stability miners to maintain the peg of PUSD.
T
Terra Luna: A reference to a previous blockchain project that attempted to create a stable-coin ecosystem. Its challenges and failures are often used as lessons for new projects like PUSD x ALGO.
Tokenomics: The study of the economics of cryptocurrencies or tokens, including aspects like distribution, supply, and demand.
Token Standards: Specifications that define the functionality and behaviour of tokens within the blockchain ecosystem, such as PRC-20 for PUSD.
Transparency: Openness and clarity in the operations of the protocol, ensuring that users can easily understand and verify actions taken within the ecosystem.
U
User-Centric Design: Design principles focused on creating a positive and efficient user experience within the protocol.
USDL A reference point for the value of PUSD, with 1 PUSD pegged to 1 USDL.
W
wPUSD (Wrapped PUSD): A wrapped, time-locked version of PUSD that represents a commitment to holding PUSD for a predetermined period, contributing to the overall stability of the stable-coin.
Y
Yield Farming: The practice of staking or lending crypto assets to generate high returns or rewards in the form of additional cryptocurrency
