Glossary of Terms
Appendix D: Glossary of Terms
A glossary of key terms and concepts used throughout the whitepaper and within the PUSD x ALGO ecosystem. This section helps familiarize with specific jargon and terminology relevant to the protocol.
ALGO
A token used as collateral for minting PUSD, ensuring a secure and collateralized foundation for the stable-coin.
Blockchain Technology
A distributed ledger technology used to record and verify transactions across a network of computers, providing security and transparency.
Community Governance
A governance model that involves the community in decision-making processes, allowing token holders to participate in shaping the protocol's future.
Decentralization
The distribution of power and control away from a central authority, particularly in the context of blockchain and cryptocurrency networks.
DeFi
A decentralized financial ecosystem that utilizes blockchain technology to provide financial services without the need for traditional intermediaries.
USDL
A reference point for the value of PUSD, with 1 PUSD pegged to 1 USDL.
FLEX
A utility token in the PUSD x ALGO ecosystem, designed to incentivize user participation in various protocol functions, such as staking and providing liquidity.
Governance Token
A potential token that may be introduced in the future to allow stakeholders to participate in decision-making processes within the protocol.
IPOL
Integrated Protocol Owned Liquidity: A system within the PUSD x ALGO protocol that allows direct control over a significant portion of its liquidity, enhancing stability and efficiency.
Liquidity
The ease with which assets can be converted into cash or other coins without affecting their market price.
Liquidity Pool
A pool of assets used to facilitate trading and transactions within the protocol, contributing to liquidity and stability.
Mint Tax
A fee applied during the minting process of PUSD using ALGO, used to support stability measures within the PUSD x ALGO ecosystem.
Peg
The target value or price to which a stable-coin is tied. For PUSD, it is pegged to 1 eDAI.
Protocol Dashboard
A user-friendly interface providing real-time data, staking, minting, and unwrapping functions, as well as tools for managing stability miners.
PRC-20
A token standard on the PulseChain blockchain, similar to the ERC-20 standard on Ethereum, defining a common set of rules for tokens to follow.
PulseChain
A blockchain platform on which the PUSD x ALGO protocol operates, known for its efficiency and scalability.
PUSD
The primary stable-coin of the PUSD x ALGO protocol, pegged to 1 eDAI and designed to serve as a stable medium of exchange.
Security Audits
Thorough reviews of the protocol's code and security measures to identify and address potential vulnerabilities and risks.
Smart Contract
Self-executing contracts with the terms of the agreement directly written into code, facilitating automated transactions within the protocol.
Stability
The attribute of maintaining a consistent value or peg, ensuring minimal volatility and reliability in the cryptocurrency market.
Stability Miners
Participants responsible for monitoring market conditions and taking actions to maintain the peg of PUSD, including purchasing or minting PUSD.
Stability Mining Bots
Autonomous bots that regulate the supply of PUSD in response to market conditions, maintaining its peg by buying or minting PUSD as needed.
Staking
The process of holding funds in a cryptocurrency wallet to support the operations of a blockchain network. In the PUSD x ALGO protocol, it involves deploying stability miners to maintain the peg of PUSD.
Token Standards
Specifications that define the functionality and behaviour of tokens within the blockchain ecosystem, such as PRC-20 for PUSD.
Transparency
Openness and clarity in the operations of the protocol, ensuring that users can easily understand and verify actions taken within the ecosystem.
User-Centric Design
Design principles focused on creating a positive and efficient user experience within the protocol.
wPUSD
A wrapped, time-locked version of PUSD that represents a commitment to holding PUSD for a predetermined period, contributing to the overall stability of the stable-coin.
